An important part of any landscape is maintaining its beauty and balance over time. We aren’t a lawn mowing service — we are skillfully trained landscape gardeners. Find out more below.
How we differ from a traditional landscape company
- We individually prune each plant based on what it needs instead of indiscriminately shearing all plants to keep them the same size as the last visit.
- We see a garden as more than the sum of its individual parts. As it matures, proportion, balance and crowding are important to modulate. This means we are always thinking about the overall size of major plants and the dynamics between perennials with different growth habits. We are uniquely qualified to manage these horticulturally sophisticated considerations.
- We spend more time in your garden at certain times of the year when there are more tasks to accomplish (spring and fall). You’ll only be spending money when your landscape needs it.
- We won’t pull out your valuable plants that some may mistake for weeds.
Frequency of service
We want to match our services to your budget, gardening style and needs. For some clients we come twice per year, in the spring and fall, for pruning services only. Most of our regular maintenance clients are on an every fourth week schedule. We email you to confirm each scheduled service date and follow up with a summary of what tasks were completed. When there is less to do in the garden, our hours decrease.
Do you maintain gardens designed by someone else?
Yes, about 75% of our garden maintenance services focus on gardens designed by other designers. We work collaboratively with garden owners and our design colleagues to guide their garden’s evolution and to maximize the original design intent. We are honored to work with other professionals and their creative pursuits.
Our maintenance services can be priced hourly, daily, by job or yearly. For our monthly maintenance clients, we can project an estimated cost for the year. For specific projects, like a 2-day pruning project or garden renovation for instance, a detailed Maintenance Proposal is developed with pricing based on our day rate and cost of additional services like debris removal. For very small jobs, we bill hourly. Our goal is to provide efficient and horticulturally sound services based on your needs.
One-on-one “Garden Mentoring” services
Our Garden Mentoring service can help gardeners of any experience level learn something new. By working side-by-side with one of our staff, we will show you our hands-on pruning techniques, for instance, and help you understand our decision-making process. Sometimes “seeing” gardening techniques is so much more informative than learning through a book or guesswork. Get dressed to work in your own garden and learn from the experts.
